Class 1

Poetry writing
On Wednesday the whole school worked with Mrs Skitt to write some group poems which we have made into a book. Here are some of them. There are some more in the Class 2 section of this site.
SNOW
SNOW

Snow like a carpet
Christmas I lay in my bed waiting for Santa
Opening presents fun, fun, fun
Christmas lights reflecting on the snow
All around family feast
Crunching snow under my feet
Prickly holly in a ring on the door
Candles being lit everywhere
Children making snowmen under black clouds
We see Santa ride off on a sleigh,
Bells jingling in the wind.

Christmas Time
CHRISTMAS TIME

Christmas is a time of celebrating
Laughter, joy, cheer, sharing and giving.
Look outside
Icicles shattering as they fall
A thick blanket of snow covering the ground
It flutters as it falls slowly
Slowly
Slowly
Slowly
Gathering around and landing
On a man
A lonely man
For him
Christmas is a time of loneliness…

Christmas Day
CHRISTMAS DAY

Sparkling glistening snowflakes
Floating down gracefully
Crunching footprints run
To make a snowman
Icy ponds frozen over,
Slip and sliding ducks.
IT’S A WINTER WONDERLAND
After the snowball fight
Fingertips are like ice,
Warm them up by the red, gold, blazing fire
Stockings hanging… waiting…
Santas sleigh bells ring
I listen all around
The Herald Angels sing
I never hear a sound!
Presents for the children
Wrapped in red, gold and green
The day of Jesus’ birth is here!

Christmas Fun
CHRISTMAS FUN

Christmas trees
Kids playing in the snow
Making snowmen
All the birds fly South
Children singing carols in the street
Cookies, carrots and milk for
Santa and his reindeer.
People buying presents
Who’s eaten all the mince pies?
All the children dream of presents
Family come around
Christmas has come to town.
